Grant Description
The Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger Program (QILSRP) funds First Nations organisations to employ Indigenous rangers to care for Country across Queensland, with an initial term of up to 2 years. In 2025, funding is available for 44 ranger positions (including 30 new positions under an election commitment, 8 positions for the Lake Eyre Basin, and 6 unallocated positions), at approximately $120,000 per ranger position to cover team costs. The program’s purpose is to protect biodiversity and cultural heritage, strengthen Traditional Owner stewardship of land and sea Country, support continuous learning and job creation, and deliver cultural, environmental and social benefits for First Nations communities.
