Grant Description
The Industry Growth Program supports innovative Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Australia through advisory services and funding opportunities aimed at commercialisation and growth projects. It is administered by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources to foster economic growth and productivity. The program aligns with the National Reconstruction Fund priority areas to bolster Australia's industry capabilities.
What It Funds
The program funds manufacturing projects focused on commercialising or scaling innovative products, processes or services aligned with National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) priority areas. It supports feasibility studies, proof-of-concept development, prototyping, market testing, IP commercialisation, and scaling production capabilities. Projects must demonstrate potential to transform or significantly enhance manufacturing outcomes within sectors such as medical science, renewable energy, value-added agriculture, resources, defence, transport, and enabling technologies like robotics, AI, and advanced materials. The funding may also be used to improve market readiness, attract investment, and position the business for national or international growth.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants must be Australian SMEs with an ABN, be registered for GST, be non-income-tax-exempt, and have a turnover of less than $20 million in each of the past three financial years. They must be a company incorporated in Australia, a co-operative, or an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust. Projects must involve the commercialisation or growth of an innovative manufacturing product, process or service aligned with one or more of the NRF priority areas. Applicants must first complete the Advisory Service process and receive a tailored report from an Industry Growth Program Adviser before applying for grant funding. Government agencies, individuals, partnerships, unincorporated trusts, and organisations listed as non-participants in the National Redress Scheme are ineligible.
