Grant Description

The Hardship Utility Grant Scheme (HUGS) assists Western Australian utility customers who are in financial hardship and are unable to pay their utility bills. It provides financial assistance targeted towards those most in need, with a maximum amount available based on the applicant's location: up to $640 per financial year for those living south of the 26th parallel and up to $1,060 for those located north of it. The amount of financial assistance through a HUGS grant must not exceed 85% of the outstanding amount on the utility account.
