Grant Description

The Deadly Fringe – $3K Commission programme supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to create, develop and showcase new work in the 2025 Melbourne Fringe Festival. It offers three project commissions of $3,000 each, enabling First Nations creatives to bring ideas to fruition; one weaving-focused commission presented in partnership with the Koorie Heritage Trust, and two further commissions for any artistic medium. Beyond the project funds, selected artists will benefit from dedicated curatorial feedback, promotional support via the Festival’s marketing channels and the opportunity to connect with peers, mentors and industry professionals during the Festival. Funding is provided by the Australian Government Indigenous Languages and Arts, the Crainey Quinn Foundation and MECCA Cosmetics, ensuring a collaborative platform for artistic experimentation and cultural storytelling.
