Grant Description
The Bevan Costello Senior Bursary honours the late Wakka Wakka Elder and community advocate, Uncle Bevan Costello, who dedicated his life to education and positive change across Cherbourg and the South Burnett region. Administered by the Queensland Department of Education, the bursary provides two Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people aged 15–24 with a one-off $2,500 payment to support their educational, community, or employment-related expenses. It recognises young people who demonstrate motivation for learning, career aspirations, and community contribution, continuing Uncle Bevan’s legacy of leadership and cultural integrity.
