Grant Description

The Community Strengthening First Nations Grants support self-determined projects that improve health, wellbeing, and social equity for Wadawurrung Traditional Owners and First Nations people living in Greater Geelong. With a total funding pool of $100,000, the grant focuses on advancing Closing the Gap targets, strengthening First Nations leadership and decision-making, promoting cultural understanding and Truth Telling, and supporting community-led initiatives aligned with the City of Greater Geelong’s Community Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025–29.The Community Strengthening First Nations Grants 2025-26 support self-determined projects and initiatives aimed at increasing health and social equity for Wadawurrung Traditional Owners, First Nations people, organisations, and groups in greater Geelong. Grants of up to $25,000 are available, offered in two categories: Category 1 (up to $5,000) for smaller scale or engagement projects, and Category 2 ($5,001–$25,000) for larger scale or multi-partner initiatives. The program prioritises First Nations leadership, supports delivery of socio-economic targets under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, and encourages respect, understanding, and celebration of First Nations culture.
