Grant Description
The Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarship supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals aspiring to become teachers in Queensland state schools. Named in honour of Dr Pearl Duncan, Australia’s first Aboriginal tertiary-trained teacher, the scholarship aims to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in education. Up to 30 scholarships are awarded annually, each providing financial assistance of up to $40,000 for undergraduate or up to $20,000 for postgraduate study, along with guaranteed permanent employment as a teacher upon graduation.
